Bridge Crane Systems
When it comes to Engineered Bridge Cranes, we have what you need. We provide top running bridge cranes as well as under hung bridge cranes, single girder and double girder. What ever your Houston crane needs may be, we can provide the solution. We offer everything from single crane systems to complete crane buildings. Just let us know if you need an independent bridge crane system or if you will be using crane rails built into your building.
Gantry Crane Systems
Our Houston Gantry Cranes are another type of overhead crane system. We provide single and double girder configurations. Our Gantry cranes are supported by freestanding steel columns that move along a track or rail system. Gantry cranes are popular outside of buildings or in places where where overhead runways are not necessary. A key benefit of gantry cranes is that they are stand alone systems and do not need to tie into a support structure such as building columns.

Jib Crane Systems
When a full crane system is not needed, our Houston Jib Cranes are perfect for picking up objects and moving them around a fixed column. Whether for indoor or outdoor use, our jib cranes are custom fit for your project. We have stand alone jib crane systems as well as column mounted jib cranes that can mount directly to you metal building. Jib cranes are crane systems that have a horizontal member commonly referred to as a boom. The role of the jib is to support the hoist, while fixed to a wall or column.
Common Overhead Crane Questions
At American Western Steel, we offer electric hoists for our overhead cranes. Electric hoists control the trolley mechanisms and the traveling mechanism. The advantage of our Houston electric hoists is that they are a 3-in-1 devices providing lifting, horizontal travel, and vertical travel operations.
Our overhead cranes are powered by three phase AC power systems. Power must be installed as movable, because the crane system travels the length of the crane rails installed. Ask us about our Houston crane installation services.
The speed of bridge cranes is measured in the lifting speed, trolley speed, and traveling speed. The largest factor influencing the operational speeds is the weight of the object being carried/moved. Low speed for heavy objects is recommended for safety of operation.
Overhead cranes need buffers in order to protect the crane system and surrounding areas from being struct by bridge or object being carried. There are three types of buffers that are widely uses: The spring buffer, rubber buffer, and hydraulic buffer.
